Fresh Produce Policy

Margaret’s African Market – Fresh Produce Policy

At Margaret’s African Market, we take great pride in providing our customers with high-quality African and Caribbean produce. Fresh items—such as yam, plantain, cocoyam, fruits, and vegetables—are delicate products that can naturally vary in texture, appearance, and shelf life.

We always do our best to ensure that every order is carefully selected, properly inspected, and shipped out as fresh as possible.

1. Shipping Fresh Produce

  • All fresh produce is hand-checked before packaging.
  • Items are shipped out promptly to reduce the chance of spoilage during transit.
  • For customers located far from our store (especially out-of-city or out-of-province), transit time may increase the risk of natural deterioration.
  • Certain items—like yam—can spoil internally without visible signs, even when they appear good at the time of packing.

2. Customer Responsibility

By completing a purchase that contains fresh produce, the customer acknowledges and accepts the following:

  • Once the order leaves our store, we are no longer responsible for the condition of fresh items upon arrival.
  • Factors such as delivery delays, weather conditions, handling by third-party couriers, or the natural behavior of fresh produce are beyond our control.
  • The customer assumes all risk associated with receiving fresh produce through delivery.

3. No Refunds or Exchanges on Fresh Produce

To maintain the fairness of our policies and due to the nature of these items:

  • We do not offer refunds, replacements, or exchanges for fresh produce once it has been shipped.
  • This includes items that may arrive damaged, spoiled, or in undesirable condition.

4. Before You Purchase

We strongly encourage customers to:

  • Review this policy carefully before ordering.
  • Consider in-store pickup for sensitive produce whenever possible.
  • Contact us if you have questions about how we package or ship fresh items.

By proceeding with your purchase, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to all terms in this Fresh Produce Policy.

5. Our Commitment

Even though we cannot guarantee condition at arrival, our team always commits to:

  • Selecting quality produce
  • Packing orders with care
  • Shipping as quickly as possible
  • Providing honest and transparent communication

Your satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your understanding of the unique nature of fresh African foods.
